Nefertiti elevated to pharaoh!
Have you heard???
Have you heard???
Pharaoh Akhenaten(original name Amenhotep IV) has just promoted his Great Royal Wife Nefertiti to a position very close to his own! Her Majesty Nefertiti will share the role of Pharaoh! Out of ALL the wives of our past pharaohs, Her Majesty Nefertiti has been the only female to share more prominently in our religious rituals.
"SHE SHALL NOW BE CALLED QUEEN NEFERTITI" Pharaoh Akhenaten had mentioned earlier this morning.
Pharaoh Akhenaten has just released a new law!
Pharaoh Akhenaten has just ordered that all of Egypt only worship one god, Aten. He is a round sun disk, with long rays ending in hands that hold ankhs, hieroglyphic symbol for life. Read more about Aten below (right).
NOTE: For those of you who do not read the papers in order and you had not known about this before, please refer to the Religion and Beliefs section then come back more information.

Our old gods, Ra, Osiris, Seth Isis, Horus, Thoth, Anubis and Hathor are now not to be worshipped as Pharaoh Akhenaten has issued the new law all over Egypt- to worship Aten. A new construction site has been placed for a temple of Aten. The inner parts of the temples of the other gods have been temporarily closed down.
Rumours are now circulating...
There are rumours around Egypt that Queen Nefertiti is going to have a baby!
Several servants have seen her tiny baby bump beginning to grow, but are still unsure about her bump. Questions are starting to pop up about whether she is faking it or not... as have a few people in Egypt..
Several people are sure that she is having her baby soon, although they are not too sure when, as she already has a daughter: Meritaten.
So far, our royal family consists of three people along with an additional member still to come: Pharaoh Akhenaten (original name Amenhotep IV), Royal Wife Nefertiti and Meritaten. (The new baby soon to come has not been named yet.)

What our Royals are eating:
Our Royal family: Akhenaten, Nefertiti and Meritaten eat fish, fowl and meat. Only our royals and nobles eat meat, but rarely do the peasants and farmers get to eat meat. They mostly eat dried fish, vegetables and more. Ready to feed yourself with more info? Refer to the Entertainment or Food and Cooking section.

What our Pharaoh wears!
There is evidence that our Pharaoh Akhenaten has power as it is evident in his appearance. Pharaoh Akhenaten wears a crown (of course!) a false beard, a bull's tail, carries a flail and a crook. He also wears a wrap-round skirt tied by a belt and sandals made of leather. His other clothes are made of linen from a plant called flax.

Great Pharaoh's childhood
Want to know Pharaoh's childhood? Well here's some exciting news for you all...
Pharaoh was the child of Pharaoh Amenhotep III and Queen Tiye (descendant of a Hebrew tribe). He was one of the sons out of the four daughters and two sons that our previous Pharaoh had. They lived in the city of the God Amun, a religious center in Thebes. He was shuuned as a child and his life was centered around the Aten, but not other gods (that are now not to be worshipped). This shows that he was a family outcast. He wasn't taken to any public events or mentioned on monuments of his family. Although all this happened, Queen Tiye favoured her younger son(Pharaoh Akhenaten). His father reigned for 38 years til his death in 1352 BC. Now, our Great Pharaoh Akhenaten rules!

Genetic disorder?
Our remaining doctors are suggesting that our Pharaoh has a genetic disorder of some sort. They are still not quite sure what it is yet, as they are further extending their research into this so-called genetic disorder. Further news will follow soon as news about the doctors' research is still underway.
Want to know the motivation behind Pharaoh's monotheism?
Read more below.
No one is quite sure about the motivation of Pharaoh Akhenaten's worship of Aten, but there have been a few theories.
Some suggest that either his reason was political, his mother or wife influenced him, or maybe even his whole family.
If this worship of Aten is a political reason, a suggestion has been made that at the start of Pharaoh Akhenaten's reign, the god Amen had rised to a very high status that the priests of this god became much wealthier and powerful than Pharaoh.
But if it was because of his family, then the suggestion that mostly his mother influenced him is quite possible as he was favoured by his mother. See Great Pharaoh's childhood.
